It was exciting to participate in this day-long plenary session and to discuss our collective commitment to increasing women’s access to graduate management programs and to preparing our students to succeed in diverse work environments by leading by example around issues of equity and inclusion within our respective organizations. At the Yale School of Management, our integrated core curriculum also helps in this preparation by challenging students to think broadly and to apply diverse perspectives to solving complex problems.

The art was really an instrument for self-reflection because something in the piece would make you tell a story from your own life, while standing in front of the group. We started the process of giving and getting feedback from the nitty gritty – like you’re shuffling on your feet – to ‘you start poorly and finish strongly.’ Or vice versa. It started a feedback loop with each other in a subject matter that wasn’t business.”

Last month, I attended the third annual Yale Student Leadership Forum organized by the Association of Yale Alumni.  This one-and-a-half-day forum enables students from across Yale University to develop leadership skills, meet successful leaders and bring student leadership to life with compelling speakers, panels, and workshops.
