The weekend was spent in Valparaiso. En-route to Valparaiso, we stopped by Emiliana Vineyard to taste some of their range of organic wines. Next we moved on to Vina del Mar, which is a municipality in the Valparaiso region and best known for its long sandy beaches. The city was a welcome breath of fresh air from Santiago.

I have truly enjoyed my experience in India. It is intriguing to see a country that can boast over 7% GDP growth each year (for the past decade) and that was able to stay so strong in the financial crisis. Consumer demand is king in India, noting that with 1.2 billion people approximately 1 out of 7 individuals in the world is Indian. While visiting Gujarat we were able to visit a variety of production companies and also the Chief Minister of the state. Today we are in New Delhi (the city/state capitol of India) and visited Parliament as well as the managing director of HDFC Bank.

Maybe you have seen Slumdog Millionaire? Or Season 8 of “24”? Or possibly even Mission Impossible 4? If so, then you have seen Anil Kapoor in action; a Bollywood movie star in India and a rising star in Hollywood in the United States. Hearing Mr. Kapoor speak was a true honor. He is an extremely gracious man and was glad to have a candid sit-down conversation with our group. One of the things that interested me most was his description of Bollywood. This year's Economic development-focused IE is, sadly, halfway through. We just completed our first full day in Vietnam after spending almost a week in Bangladesh and the difference in level of development is striking even at first glance. Our Bangladesh visits spanned the entire spectrum of key organizations in the development world - from luxury office buildings in Dhaka to factories in the export district and communities in remote rural villages.

Although I am only halfway through my trip in Chile, I already find it hard to sum up how amazing this trip has been and what I've gained from my time here. The trip is divided into two parts mostly, Santiago and outside Santiago (Vina del Mar, Valparaiso). Similarly, my first post will concentrate on Santiago and the next one will touch on the experience outside Santiago. {C}The itinerary is top-notch and it has been amazing to meet, listen to and converse with the line-up of distinguished speakers including: Mr.

Things have truly moved at a breakneck pace this quarter and its time to once again look back on what has happened, while I sit in on a poetry reading at one of my favorite cafes, Koffee on Audubon. The start of the semester was really hectic while I grappled with recruiting, SOM Outreach and 6 classes. For now, I will be joining BCG for the summer and am really looking forward to it.

I could not have asked for a better Valentine’s Day. First, I woke up and realized that my significant other forgot about Valentine’s Day! It made me happy to see that she is just like me, busy and productive, and does not get overly caught up in this holiday (not that it is bad, it is just not my thing). But more relevant for this post, I saw the integrated curriculum at Yale SOM at its best. In my operations class we studied the movie industry and two great professors, Arthur Swersey (operations professor) and Keith Chen (behavioral econ professor), taught the class together.
