Sakura (cherry blossoms) in Caulkins Courtyard. Not actually Japan, but we were there a little too early to see a great number of cherry blossoms. Sorry ‘bout that. Photo by Dennis’ iPhone. Here is the much-delayed follow-up to my first post on Japan, Frames, Trains, and Automobiles. First off, Congratulations to the Class of 2013! I'm so proud of you all, and going to miss so many of you that I've come to call friends over the short year. As someone who has interviewed scores of MBA job applicants in the finance sector, Matt Carpenter ’95 had some job-hunting advice when he spoke at Yale SOM on February 20. Carpenter, senior portfolio manager at Moore Capital Management, encouraged students to invest time in research and preparation before interviews. “Take responsibility for the whole job process,” he said. “You’ve got to sell yourself.” Carpenter offered a few tips that he said no job applicant should overlook:

The truly awesome Shwedagon Pagoda in downtown Rangoon, and our first sunset in Burma.

I'm writing this post from the gate at Rangoon airport in Burma, (officially known as Myanmar). I've just spent the most wonderful 10 days touring and trekking the newly-opened country with 6 of my classmates, and am about to fly to Tokyo to begin my International Experience (IE). Wait. Let me back up just a little bit.

Greetings from Managua (or somewhere between Miami and LA en route to my Indonesia International Experience to be exact)! I just wanted to share some of my thoughts after my Global Social Enterprise trip to Nicaragua, where I was able to reconnect with my international development roots and social entrepreneurship passions firsthand!

Off to greener pastures
