Привет! Olá! مرحبا Hola! 안녕하세요! Hello!—These are just a few of the languages spoken here at SOM and like the SOM community of faculty, students and staff, they represent a linguistic, cultural and experiential diversity that spans six continents. Having just recently joined this vibrant community of world citizens, I feel right at home!

As promised, I’m sharing the slides from the presentation. We have a number of events coming up (I will personally be on the West Coast next week for several events, then on to London and Paris after that).  We will also be offering a number of online events, which we plan to announce soon, including several very interesting webinars with our faculty and alumni.  Please check back often as we update our Admissions events frequently.

We are thrilled to welcome the Yale SOM MBA Class of 2016 to campus this week for the start of Orientation. The incoming class is among the most diverse in school history. Thirty-nine percent of the class is from outside the United States, representing 35 different countries, while 37% are women, 25% U.S. minorities, and 13% U.S. underrepresented minorities. We are excited to announce that the 2014-2015 Yale SOM MBA application is now live. We would like to welcome you to SOM with some unsolicited advice. There are only so many days left before you start Orientation. Until then, we wanted to provide you with some things you could do now to prepare yourself for the unrelenting whirlwind that is the SOM MBA experience. We’ve come up with these words of wisdom, (in random, stream-of-consciousness order) for the summer prior to your arriving here, but also for keeping in mind during your time at SOM.

Greetings from Evans Hall and Yale University! While I may be new to Yale and New Haven (though not the East Coast; I was born and raised in New York), this isn’t my first rodeo in the MBA admissions arena. At Chicago Booth, I was lucky enough to work under the direction of Yale’s current Dean, Ted Snyder, for a few years. I have to admit that the idea of working with him again (as well as Career Development Office Assistant Dean and Director Julia Zupko, a former Booth employee and alumna) was a major draw for me to consider Yale as my next professional step.

One of the most exciting parts of my job is calling all of our admitted students to tell them they’ve been admitted to the Yale School of Management – and yes, we do call every admitted student to tell them personally! Last week we had the great fun of calling all our Round 3 admitted students (while munching on chocolate cupcakes prepared from scratch by Bruce DelMonico’s 11-year old daughter), which means that this week—it’s time to start recruiting the next class: the Class of 2017!
