Do I have to be an executive to apply to the program?
We welcome applicants who are mid-career professionals and aspire to lead in the healthcare industry. Your résumé should demonstrate increasing responsibility for overall results within your organization. Applicants should have a minimum of seven years of professional experience.
How do I schedule a campus visit?
We hold both on-campus and off-site information sessions regularly throughout the admissions season to introduce prospective applicants to the Yale School of Management and Yale MBA for Executives. These sessions are a great opportunity to see the school’s facilities, get acquainted with program faculty and staff, meet current students, exchange views with others who are considering the Leadership in Healthcare program, and ask questions.
In addition you may contact the EMBA office to arrange a telephone call or personal visit. Email email@example.com or call 203-432-4649.
Are career management services available?
The EMBA program coordinates with the School of Management Career Development Office to provide a number of services targeted for mid-career professionals to manage their career over the long term.
Can I customize my curriculum through electives?
The independent study component of the program allows each student to create a specific project under faculty guidance, such as writing a business plan, completing work for a School of Management course outside of the EMBA curriculum, or working with a client on a faculty-mentored consulting project in an active healthcare organization. Read more about the curriculum.
Are there any distance learning courses?
All credited courses are taught on campus and attendance is required. Given the diversity of our students, there is great learning value in face-to-face interaction in the classroom. There is technology available for study groups to meet and share via distance learning tools.
When does the program begin?
The program begins with two days of orientation in mid-summer followed by a two-week in-residence session. Subsequently, classes are held every other weekend on Friday and Saturday. View the schedule.
Can the GMAT or GRE exam be waived?
No. Your application must include either a GRE or GMAT score that is no more than five years old.
What test score do I need to gain admission?
Test scores are one factor considered in reviewing a candidate’s overall admission application. Admission decisions are made on the basis of an applicant's professional accomplishments and plans, past academic performance, verbal and quantitative reasoning abilities as demonstrated on the test, and a series of personal interviews. The Admissions Committee seeks students who they believe will contribute to the overall experience of the program and, therefore, a solid test report can be a distinguishing element of the application.
Do I have to take the GMAT or GRE before I submit my application?
No. You can submit an application prior to taking the exam; however, your application will not be considered complete without a valid test score. We encourage applicants to schedule time to prepare for the exam; the format does take some time to adjust to and timing during the exam is very important. A professional preparation course is recommended.
Do I need to be sponsored?
Your supervisor must agree in writing to support you by providing the time to attend scheduled classes and sufficient scheduling flexibility to complete required coursework. However, you do not need to have financial support from your employer. Yale expects applicants to assess their financial needs and plan accordingly for payment of program fees. The School of Management does have a financial aid officer, who is happy to meet and discuss applicants’ financial needs and means of support.
Can I sponsor myself?
If you are self-employed, you can write your own employer letter.
Can the fee for hotel accommodations be waived for local residents?
The program directors view Friday night as integral to the program, and therefore will not waive lodging fees during in-residence weeks and the fall semester in year one. Students use this time to work on their group assignments and build relationships with their fellow students. However, beginning with spring semester year one, students have the option to waive the lodging and will be reimbursed for the cost.
What does the program fee include?
Details on the program fees can be found on the Tuition Information page.
When are payments due?
Upon acceptance to the program students are required to submit a non-refundable $5,000 deposit to hold a seat in the class. This deposit is applied to fall tuition. The Yale University Office of Student Financial Services bills for program fees on a semester basis. Fall fees are billed on July 1st and are due by August 1st. Spring fees are billed on November 1st and are due by December 1st.
Are there scholarships for students in the program?
