Yale SOM Receives Research Grant from Citigroup

The Yale School of Management has received a grant from the Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citigroup Inc., to support critical research by K. Sudhir, James L. Frank Professor of Marketing, and Zhiwu Chen, professor of finance, related to the rapidly emerging markets of China and India, Citigroup announced on June 2, 2011.

The grant is part of the five-year, $25 million Financial Insights Project, which will provide funding to leading universities for research on issues affecting the financial services landscape. The first round of grants have been awarded to Columbia, Harvard, MIT, and Stanford as well as Yale.

The research project conducted by Professor Sudhir will explore the dynamics of consumption in China and India through analysis of consumer-level data with a specific application for the banking sector in the context of mobile banking. Professor Chen's research initiative will examine trends of financial development and its impact on society in China through household surveys.
