Happening Now: Discussion of the recent U.S. financial reform

Aaron mentioned earlier that “we also have access to everything [Yale University] has to offer.” I and at least 10 other SOMers are taking advantage of that access right now. I’m not qualified to answer the question of whether the recent U.S. financial reform will work, but there’s a panel of distinguished economists here that can say a thing or two about it: - Dr. Ernesto Zedillo, former president of Mexico and current director of the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization - Professor Bob Shiller, co-developer of the ubiquitous Case-Shiller Home Price Indices (teaching an SOM course "Behavioral and Institutional Economics”) - Professor Thomas Cooley, the macroeconomist and former dean of NYU Stern - Dr. Stephen Roach, Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia and lecturer at Yale SOM (teaching SOM courses “The Next China” and “Washington and Wall Street: Markets, Policy, and Politics”) Live update: “It’s the most ambitious effort to change how we regulate the financial system since the 1930s. But will it be as successful?” I’m signing off to hear what they say.
