As Senior Associate Dean for Executive MBA and Global Programs, David Bach has responsibility for the Executive MBA program, the new Master of Advanced Management degree program, and expanding global opportunities. This includes spearheading Yale SOM’s active involvement with the Global Network for Advanced Management, both creating opportunities and responding to the wide range of opportunities which flow from it. David also is a member of the Yale SOM faculty’s Politics group and teaches courses in global business. David comes from IE Business School, where in addition to being a professor of strategy and economic environment, he has held significant leadership roles including: Academic Director of the International MBA Program, Associate Dean for MBA Programs, and, most recently, Dean of Programs. As Associate Dean, David oversaw steady growth in IE’s flagship full-time MBA program, with the share of international students surpassing 90 percent. In his role as Dean of Programs, David has played a lead role in transforming IE into a top global business school, driving innovation, academic rigor, and operational excellence across the school’s entire portfolio, and promoting its innovative blended programs that combine face-to-face and online modules. In this capacity, he also served as Academic Director of the IE Brown Executive MBA, a unique program that fuses Brown University’s strength in liberal arts with IE’s expertise in management education. One distinct advantage of David’s appointment is that IE Business School and Yale SOM will be yet better positioned to coordinate on a broader range of programmatic initiatives. Both schools are founding members of the Global Network for Advanced Management and already have identified substantial opportunities to improve management education offerings on a global basis. Among his many awards and honors, David twice was named “one to watch” in the Thinkers 50 ranking of leading management thinkers, and has been listed as one of 50 business school professors to follow on Twitter. David is a graduate of Yale College and has an MA and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, in Political Science.
