Yale SOM Students Share Stories from Summer Internships

Every summer, Yale SOM MBA students fan out across the country and around the world to take on summer internships in their chosen fields. Summer internships are a chance to put the skills and knowledge they’re acquiring at SOM to work. Internships are a critical component of the MBA program, and they often lead to permanent positions.

In a series of panel events hosted by student clubs and other organizations this fall, second-year students shared the key takeaway lessons from their internship experiences.


Women in Finance

The Women in Management Club gathered a group of women who discussed their experiences in internships in private wealth management, investment banking, venture funding, and corporate M&A.

Students discussed their internships at tech giants Google and Amazon.

Students interned at beverage companies, cosmetic giants, and toymakers, including L'Oréal, Hasbro and Pepsi.

Design and Innovation Club

Some students interned at design and innovation consultancies, including SYPartners and Continuum, while others applied systematic “design thinking” principles at firms such as Google and eBay.

Students pursuing joint degrees at Yale SOM and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies combined their interests in the environment and business at companies including Pacific Gas and Electric and Big City Farms.
