Position Focus: 

Demonstrating significant independent decision-making, the Associate Registrar will co-manage operations in the Registrar’s Office. The Associate Registrar will be responsible for systems management, registration and reporting to support the academic policies and practices of the Yale School of Management and of Yale University, and will provide back up to the Registrar for all technical functions.

Essential Duties: 

  1. Systems management, including but not limited to: ongoing support of the Student Information System (SIS) and related applications (Banner, Banner Web), Course Auction (SOM course registration system), external push/pull processes, including enrollment from Course Auction, and all Brio reporting.
  2. Tests, troubleshoots, and monitors usage of all registrar-related applications. Evaluates and monitors all system interfaces and resolves issues, as needed.
  3. Ensures data integrity and synchronization between interrelated systems and student/faculty applications related to the Registrar’s Office.
  4. Responsible for registration management, including course setup and maintenance, course registration period, and open add/drop periods.
  5. Responsible for preparing a full range of statistical reports and analysis related to student records, course evaluations, enrollments, and faculty.
  6. Responsible for communicating with students, faculty and administrative staff concerning academic policies and procedures, including editing academic content on the SOM website and in various databases.
  7. Serves as the Veterans Affairs Certifying Official for the School of Management.
  8. Ensures institutional compliance with FERPA and other laws and university policies concerning student records.
  9. Attends meetings related to policies and systems in use by the Registrar’s Office.
  10. Attends some required, scheduled events outside of regular working hours.

Required Education & Experience: 

  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and four years of experience in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Excellent analytical, organizational, and data management skills. Must be able to modify and write sophisticated queries, or have ability to learn those skills.
  2. Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Accuracy and precise attention to detail. 
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to use diplomacy and tact, and to maintain confidential information.
  4. Ability to work with diverse constituencies, as part of a team and independently.
  5. High level of computer proficiency, including familiarity with the University networked environment and integration of University data systems, and demonstrated proficiency with Excel, Word and other desktop applications.

Preferred:

Prior experience in an academic institution, with knowledge of academic procedures and course management systems. Knowledge of Banner, Brio and SQL. Global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language.
